    I got here just like you. The hard way.

    I started my agency from the coffee table in my small, rented apartment in 2010.Things took off fast. Awards. Bigger clients. Three office moves in 18-months.From the outside, it looked like we were on top of the world.But I was exhausted. I always felt like I was one bad day away from disaster.That day came in December 2017.

    In one week, I lost two key people and two key clients.Everything I thought was secure suddenly wasn't.I remember walking into the house, dropping my bag by the door, and burying my head into a pile of coats. I just yelled into them, hoping my wife wouldn't hear how lost I felt.(She did - and thankfully she's still here!)

    From that moment, things changed.I decided I'd never again build something that could collapse if one or two people left. I wanted an agency that ran on process, not pressure.I turned everything into systems. Documented it all. Made it easy to hand over.But I was still the smartest guy in the room (or thought I was), so I kept overseeing, maintaining, updating everything anyway.

    I'd built the systems but couldn't let go of the controls.That took another year to figure out.By 2019, I was down to working 2-3 days per week with an agency that practically ran itself.I never had the biggest agency. We were based in rural Oxfordshire - couldn't compete with city talent pools or entertaining would-be clients in London.Not without sacrificing my lifestyle, which was non-negotiable.But I had what other agency owners were dreaming of: a business paying me comfortable six-figures in under 25 hours a week.It bought our dream home. Holidays of a lifetime. And time.When the pandemic hit, I asked myself two questions; if it all disappeared, could I rebuild? And would I even want to?Yes. And no.In 2022, I exited my agency. We sold up, got married at our house with 100 people there, moved to our villa in Cyprus three minutes from the sea. Before the year ended, we were blessed to find out that we were going to become a family of three.Everything changed.

    After two years in Cyprus, watching my son grow up, I realised I'd figured out something most agency owners are killing themselves trying to find.GTFO is about freedom. Getting out of operational shackles and building something that works without you.You might want to make more time for family. You might just want space to think again. I rarely clock in a 30-hour week. I can count on one hand the number of days I haven't been there to put my little boy to bed.Before my dad passed away, I saw him almost daily for three years.
